Code of Conduct

Respect is the underlying value of the school's Code of Conduct. The faculty and staff expect students and the entire school community to practice courtesy, manners and respect daily. The published Holy Ghost Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy promotes an ever increasing degree of self discipline, encouraging the student to assume responsibility for their actions. Consequences for behavioral choices are found in the Parent-Student Handbook. Parents must review this handbook with their children and sign an agreement to abide by the school's rules, policies, and procedures. This handbook is reviewed and edited annually.

School Safety

There is a school Safety Coordinator who regularly inspects the school facility. Regular evacuation and fire drills are conducted and the school administration and faculty are trained in Crisis Management and Emergency Procedures.

A conflict resolution curriculum and program has been in effect since the 1993-1994 school year. Starting in the fifth grade, all students are trained as mediators. By middle school, negotiation and active listening are stressed as a means to resolve disputes.

During regular school hours, all visitors to the school are required to sign in at the main office and receive a visitor's badge that must be worn while on school grounds. Knowing who is on the school campus helps ensure student safety.

Parents are required to keep Emergency Contact Information up-to-date. Picture identification is required of any unfamiliar adult who picks up a student.

Notes:

1 According to the Archdiocesan policy there are 3 different methods of payment.

  • A family may pay the entire tuition balance by June 1st and receive a $ 50.00 discount.
  • A family may pay in two equal payments on June 1st and Dec. 1st.
  • A family may pay monthly through the F.A.C.T.S. electronic transfer system. Archdiocesan policy requires that monthly payments be made electronically. F.A.C.T.S. is similar to electronic payments that you might make for mortgages or cars or other monthly bills. If you choose monthly payments, you will receive a F.A.C.T.S. form at registration. Families may choose between a 10 or 12 month payment schedule.

2 The Archbishop began the Parish Operational Subsidy as a means for all parishes to support Catholic education. Any student whose family is registered in any parish, attends mass regularly and uses their Sunday envelopes may qualify for the parish operational subsidy. For example, you are registered at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande and have two children who attend Holy Ghost Catholic School. You are active in your parish, attend Mass regularly, serve as a Eucharistic Minister and use your Sunday envelopes. St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Parish is then required by the Archbishop to pay the annual operational subsidy for each student. If the parish does not pay the operational subsidy, the family is required to pay the subsidy. The parish subsidy is $ 300.00 per student and determined by the Archbishop.

FUNDRAISERS

Holy Ghost has three major required fundraisers: a gift wrap sale, a Walkathon and a $10,000 Raffle during the Parish Fiesta. Families are required to participate in fundraising activities or add the funraising obligation to the annual tuition. The fundraising obligation is

  • one child - $ 550.00
  • two children - $ 750.00
  • three children - $ 850.00
  • four or more children - $ 950.00
